A new adventure

Contrary to what the title of this blog post is, no I am not starting a new adventure in a new country ( or am I?) but a new adventure with blogging. At this moment I feel pretty hypocritical as I have been told by friends before that I should start a blog, and said how stupid I thought that was…but here I am. I am testing this blog to see how it goes and to see if I can really stay committed to it. I have a tendency to get into things for about a few weeks then need to do something new….a pattern I have known all too well this past year.

I wish I could say I am a avid traveller, but I am just only starting out…I would like to believe. It would be a lie to say that my true adventure started when I was 18 years old and moved to Zurich, Switzerland for a year on a Rotary Youth Exchange after I was done high school, but that is incorrect. The adventure for me started when I was probably about eleven years old. Oddly enough it began with shit, literally. That day in the summer we were having our septic system pumped and drained. My mom, being a primary teacher in the local area of course knew the man who would pump it for us, and had taught all of his  children. They were discussing about how he did not want his own children to follow in his footsteps and it got me thinking what the heck I wanted to do with my own life. I remember me and my mom had one of our usual sit down deep conversation moments on the couch that day…the days before we had facebook, ipads, or iphones thankfully, somehow I miss those days! But from right there I knew that I had no idea what I wanted to do job wise, but I knew I wanted to live in Scotland and travel. Hard to believe twelve years later that dream became a reality, but not the dream I had hoped would come true.

I hope to continue on in my blog posts, I can guarantee all of them are about adventures…but perhaps not the adventures that everyone can see on my instagram or facebook of these beautiful views and smiling faces, no I want to talk about this adventure that I have been having with life the past twenty three years.

I may be from one of the most unknown places in the earth, but I am proud to say that I am from Nova Scotia, Canada.

Cheers for now to the blogging world. Let’s see where this newest adventure takes me.

With love from Sweden,

Emily
